Lafayette Reservoir Lakeside Nature Trail – A Gentle Walk for Reflection

Join us for a peaceful walk along the beautiful Lafayette Reservoir Lakeside Nature Trail, one of the East Bay’s most beloved lakeside paths. Surrounded by rolling hills, oak trees, and wide-open water views, this trail offers a calm and welcoming setting for conversation, quiet reflection, and shared support.

The trail forms an easy 2.7–3 mile loop around the reservoir and is gently graded, making it comfortable for walkers of many abilities. With only about 170 feet of elevation change, the route is largely flat and typically takes about 60–90 minutes at a relaxed pace.

As we walk, the path winds along the shoreline beneath eucalyptus, pine, and oak trees, with frequent views of the water, birds, and the surrounding hills. The reservoir area is open year-round and offers a peaceful natural environment that many people find restorative and grounding.

Trail Highlights

  • Distance: ~2.7–3 mile loop

  • Elevation gain: ~170 feet

  • Difficulty: Easy

  • Surface: Paved (optional paths are unpaved)

  • Estimated walking time: 1–1.5 hours

  • Setting: Lakeside path with trees, wildlife, and open views

The Movement Community Experience

The Movement Community is a free 8-week, in-person group experience for people who are living with a life-disrupting loss of a person. It combines movement—like walking, hiking, or biking—with intentional grief support, held in community with others who get it. Each group includes 15–20 grievers and is guided by a trained E-Motion Facilitator. The group meets weekly, and participants are expected to attend 80% of gatherings.

To learn more about the Movement Community model, please visit our page here.

Joining a movement community was like catching a wave. Like instead of treading water, I was catching a wave with all these other people and it completely changed my grieving experience.
